EAGLE-VSWIR

NASA's next-generation orbital imaging spectroscopy observatory, measuring the visible through shortwave infrared spectrum at 30 m resolution every 16 days, globally. I serve as Data Operations Lead, managing the science data and instrument operations systems, along with contributing to science and algorithm development.

2023 – present

EMIT

The Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation is an imaging spectrometer on the International Space Station, mapping the mineral composition of Earth's arid dust source regions, along with methane and CO2 point-source emissions. I serve as the project science lead and am part of the science data system team.

Airborne Spectroscopy

NASA's airborne imaging spectrometers AVIRIS-NG, AVIRIS-3, and AVIRIS-5 fly science campaigns around the world. I work with the amazing airborne teams to lead product delivery, and help with some algorithm development.

These instruments anchor intensive field campaigns pairing spectroscopy with in situ sampling, including BioSCape (Biodiversity Survey of the Cape, South Africa), where I led multi-sensor data integration, and SHIFT (California), where I supported data system and product development. Earlier in my career I led model development for the Carnegie Airborne Observatory.

Carbon-I

A NASA Earth System Explorer candidate mission for global imaging of methane, CO2, and other trace gases. While ultimately not selected this round, I served as the Science Data System Lead and worked on system science through Phase A.

Open-Source Software

ISOFIT

Imaging Spectrometer Optimal FITting provides optimal-estimation atmospheric correction and surface reflectance retrievals for imaging spectroscopy. ISOFIT generates the reflectance products for EMIT and the AVIRIS program, and together with David Thompson, the codebases originator, I help lead its open-source development.

EMIT Science Data System

The complete science data system for the EMIT mission, from raw data through calibrated radiance, reflectance, mineralogy, was on github prior to mission launch, and has continued to be developed in the open - a big step for mission-level Open Science.

SpectralUnmixing

A general, performance-oriented Julia package for unmixing spectroscopy data, supporting a wide range of endmember library and normalization strategies.

JOSS, 2025

sRTMnet

A neural network emulator for radiative transfer models, making large-scale reflectance retrievals fast without sacrificing physical rigor. Distributed as part of the ISOFIT ecosystem.
